do you guy's think a 110-115 volt welder will get hot enough to penetrate this 1x1 square tubing your talking about. Or do I need to go to a 220 volt. reason I ask is I have access to the 110. thanks, boxcar

110 welders will work fine for anything you need to weld on a barstool, or whatever you may have to do at home. I would suggest buying an name brand one, such as miller or lincoln(I prefer miller). Harbor Frieght has a Hobart that I have seen as low as $450.00. That machine works well for fartting around at home.

Yah, it would do it, you need at least 90 amps for going it with stick, and about 120 to go with MIG, if you´ve got TIG you should think for something up to 90 amps too. However duty cycle (the time you need the machine to rest per every 10 mins) might be a little frustrating cause you will probably spend more time waiting for the machine to cool down than welding. If this is not a problem with you 110 volts welder would work fine.

Yes, it will work. When I do not have access to my 220V Welder, I load up some .035 Flux Core in my Lincoln Pro MIG 135 and put the frame together with that.
The only concern I would have is when you weld on the rear axle hangers and front spindle mount brackets because they are 1/4" thick. I use my 220V Welder for those.
