OK no#9 is a 500cc dirtbike motor that has been ported, and milled for more power. The carb has also been converted over to alcohol. The guy who owns it weights about 325 lbs, and he has to be pulled by a car to get it started. But once it's started, he has a jockey that weights around 140 lbs. It has been between 124-128mph in a 1/4 mile drag race. I guess it depends on the weather what it will run. It will run faster, because the rear gear is so tiny. But it's basically geared to stay in control.

Man that´s nuts, considering its just a go kart wheel =)

is it 500 cc 2 stroke???

Do you guys do your own porting and milling?

What advices can you give us for doing that ;)

And what do you need to run on alky

he does 1/4 without wheelie bar?

minidragbike
August 13th, 2006, 07:28 PM
My buddy DUFF is the chassis, and 2 stroke man. All the minibikes chassis you see with wheelie bars, live axels, or even power coat came from him. He also converts the carbs to alky. Yes it's a 2 stroke, and it does use wheelie bars for the first 1/8 mile before it comes down. Or either he hits 4 gear :)

I get my carbs done by Fast by gast (dragbike company)

OK minibike no#1
This is a Tecumseh Star motor. It has been bore, and resleeve to hold a 3.49" piston and it has a .400 billet stroker crank in it. NOT a briggs stroker(2.837"), but the tecumseh star stroker crank (2.932") It also has 1.550" intake with a 1.160" exhaust valves. .500 lift VKE cam, dual spark plugs, and coil. And a small billet jr.racecar 3hp flywheel I had the center taper cut to mount on the motor. I also had a custom relocation brack made to relocate the coil lower to run level with the flywheel. It also has a big 38mm Alky Super BN mikuni, and a custom header I had made by a custom welder out of state. Most of the parts I purchased at VKE (rod, piston, cam, crank, angled adpter, manifold, carb) It also has a 3 disc bully 1" bore race clutch and a Clements side cover.

It runs between 108-114mph in the 1/4 mile depends on the weather, the later and colder it gets the faster it runs.

OK minibike no#2
This is a stroker animal motor, built by me.
It has a stock stroke flathead crank in it (2.437) which is .233" bigger then the stock animal crank. The cam is Dyno #357 cam, with full port work. It also has big valves, and seats installed with a 3 angle valve job, that is vacuum tested. It has a 3hp briggs flywheel that is much lighter then standard, with a relocation bracket. The carb is a 28mm alky mikuni (not my choice) with a 3" long Clements intake. Not to many custom parts, but it's quick.

It runs between 88-92mph in the 1/4 mile.

Forgot to add this minibike runs a 2 disc Stellar tomar clutch.

minibike number #3
This is a raptor block.
It's been bore and sleeved to hold a .174" over piston, and also has a .400 stroker briggs Lunati crank. The cam is a Dyno #121, with a 1.440" and 1.160" intake and exhaust valves. The flywheel is a 3hp ARC billet adjustable piece. The carb is a 34/36mm HV Lectron carb done by Fast by Gast. The intake is a custom piece made by E.C. distributing, it's 4" long. The billet head is also made by ARC.

This minibike runs between 89-94mph in the 1/4 mile.

Forgot to add this minibike runs a 2 disc grease lighten clutch.

This is a GX200 Honda 6.5hp motor.
Now this little motor has a few custom parts. It has a ARC custom billet 3hp adjustable (finless) flywheel. it has a Animal relocation bracket, with a jr.dragster 3hp German hot coil. It has a flattop Wiseco piston, and ARC rod in it. The head has large vales and seats insalled, by my buddy and his machine shop. Three angle valve job, and vacuum tested. The carburetor is a 29.5mm IBEA billet slide alky carb. It also has custom high ratio HD rockers built by Dan Press of DPI engines. The cam is a custom drag ISKY .310 lift unit.(this lift is at 1.0 ratio) so you will have to do the math. Oh yeah this thing has around 13.25:1 compression. This is done because the GX honda motors can interchange heads. So I have a old style GX160 head (14cc stock) that has been milled down even farther. VS the standard (25cc head) stock head. The new stlyes GX160 heads are 18cc.

These are old pictures. On the old pictures it ran between 89-94mph

It's been up graded
It now has a custom E.C. built 4 1/2" long intake manifold. A custom straight (no bends) header made but my buddy. I also added some 1.3 roller rockers I got from Dan Press, that he got from Hunter manufactoring. It's also on a different chassis now.

It now runs between 96-99mph on pure alky, and 100-104mph with a 20% nitro mix. :)
This baby turns just over 10,200 RPM.

Forgot to add it was running a 2 disc grease lighten clutch, but now runs a 2 disc reaper clutch.

This is a modified briggs WF motor
It's been converted to alky, and has a custom ISKY cam. It also has a billet aluminum JR-Racecar Animal flywheel, and it's mildly ported.

This minibike runs between 75-79mph

It also runs a stock Premier WF clutch

Minibike no#7
This is a Briggs 10hp (305) motor
It was originally built by E.C. distributing. It has a mild E.C. custom grind approx. (.310 lift) and mild port work. The carb is a E.C. stage 1 HR181(33.1mm) alky tillotson carb, with a 3" E.C. intake.

This minibike runs between 86-91mph

Now it's been upgraded
It now has a ARC billet adjustable finned flywheel. A new Clint Board billet (.390 lift) cam. And it also has a stage 1 big valve Clint Board head. Valves are 1.375" intake with a 1.250" exhaust.

This minibike now runs 96-102mph

It runs a Noram 1" bore racing drum clutch

minibike no#8
This is a Briggs 13hp Vanguard
SUPER CUSTOM- Now this has a custom ISKY (.400 lift) cam. It also has a MSD ignition, with a custom ARC (no-magnet) 5hp diameter flywheel. The head has 1.600" intake with a 1.375" exhaust valves. The carb is a 40mm mikuni alky pumper carb. The intake is a custom Hanson built 5" unit. The billet rod is a custom Hanson built 4 bolt headed, with needle bearings unit. The exhaust header is also made by Hanson, and it's custom.

This minibike runs between 103-108mph

It has a 3/4" (3 disc) Tomar on the picture, but it was changed back into a 1" shaft. Basically putting another factory crank back in it. Now it has a (3 disc) 1" Bully clutch.

minibike no#9
This is a 500cc 2 stroke motor
I don't know to much about this motor. But I do know the carb has been converted to alky, and it's been ported, and had the head milled for more compression.

This minibike/thing runs between 120-130mph
And this depends on if he can stay on the gas all the way.

This bike runs through 5, or 6 gears. NOT SURE!

This is a 250cc 2 stroke Honda Odosey motor (spelling)
it has the same teatment as the other 2 stroke. The carburetor has been converted to alky. It's been ported, and the head has been milled for more HP. The shaft has been cut down to accept a 3/4" 3 disc Tomar 4 cycle racing clutch.

This minibike runs between 114-118mph

My personal Favorite!
minibike no#14
This is a Raptor block
It's been bore, and sleeve to run a (.100) over piston, and it also has a .400 stroke lunati crank in it. The cam is a billet #126 dyno, and it has a 1.375" intake with a 1.160 exhaust valves. It fully ported, and epoxy filled. The carburetor is a 30mm ARC Lectron power jet alky carb. The intake is a JR-Racecar 28mm bore 4" long unit that has been bored to 30mm. The flywheel is a billet Pure Power unit, with a JR-Racecar time machine coil bracket. The billet head is also made by Pure Power, and the billet side cover is made by Polar.

This minibike runs between 87-91mph on alky, and 93-96mph with a 15% nitro mix.

It uses a 3 disc "mini" Tomar TD-43 clutch

This is my favorite bike, only because it's made a ton of money for my team. (4 guys) I'm talking about over 30+ wins, with only 3 loses and the races went from $100-$850. You do the math!

minibike no#16
This is another Raptor
This motor has been bored (.80) over, and is stock stroke. It has 1.250" intake with a 1.125" exhaust valves. The cam is a 98exp dyno. It has a stock appearing weld and milled head. The billet 3hp adjustable flywheel is made by ARC-Racing. The carb is a HL380 tillotson, from E.C.

This minibike runs between 72-76mph

It also uses a Salsbury torque converter
The difference about this minibike is not the speed, but the E.T. because it leaves the starting line so fast. It would have to be compared to a standard clutch bike running approx. 83mph.

Yeah I'm scared of the crazy red one. I have a few pictures of a custom stretch chromoly tube chassis stroker animal minibike. But it hasn't been posted yet. There are so many racers, I really don't have pictures of all of them. I only have about 5, or 6 more. But there are about 40 racers!

Hey Mini, I REALLY like this minibike and want to build one similar to it, already have a stock 9 hp Briggs Vanguard and a 1" Buller clutch. Is that a 12" rear rim with a low pro tire ?? I see the front is a 3.50x10. Simple and clean design, did it also have a wheelie bar setup, I see some brackets. Also what info is there on the engine in photo #13 or did I miss it. You also mention ARC and Hanson, any links for info or contact ?? Thanks. T-bolt

minidragbike
January 27th, 2007, 02:11 PM
I think the rear rim is also 10". The billet rod was made by Hanson Racing, and the Flywheel came from ARC.

There is other guys building motors simular to this one. But they are Honda 13hp motors. The Honda have all the parts availible, unlike the Vangaurd were the parts were custom and cost a ton of money. The billet rod alone cost around $500. Which is extremely high compared to the Honda $100 billet rod. The flywheel, cam, and valve train was all custom too.

Mini, any links for Hanson, ARC and where are all of these parts from for the race Hondas. I know that when special ordering rods and pistons from many manufacturers there's a minimum order of 4. Thanks for your help.

Your going to have to give me some time for Hanson contact number. He use to have a web site, but I can't remember the address. But there about 5-6 miles from my house, so I usually just go up there on the week days. I found the number (310) 329-6888 Gary is usually to busy. So you will have to ask for any of the engine builders.

ARC is www.arcracing.com (http://www.arcracing.com)

For othe Honda parts you will have to go to www.mountainmachineshop.com (http://www.mountainmachineshop.com), www.nr-racing.com (http://www.nr-racing.com), and there is www.8ees.com (http://www.8ees.com).

how much would you need to make one of thes that goes about 55- 60
on regular gas it needs to be reliable and a little bit of tork es would be nice too, thanks

minidragbike
May 11th, 2007, 11:20 PM
It's a little cheaper then a BSR, but I don't ship frames. To run that speed usually only takes 12hp on gas depending on your gearing.

Check out my web site. My mild Honda runs 60mph on gas with 13/45 gearing. That's with my heavy 230 lb load on board.

greg
May 12th, 2007, 05:33 PM
that would be great so what 1500 - 2000$ or more i weigh i25 lbs but i drive as gaood as somebody that is your weight holding it downn i mean

minidragbike
May 12th, 2007, 06:10 PM
At that weight you only need about 10hp. I build motors mainly for minibikes. I have done lots of gokart and kart motors. And only one BSR motor so far.

It won't cost $1500, maybe $1000 only. A stock minibike with a clone Honda usually cost around $500-$600 new. To build the motor up to 10hp usually only cost about $400. For more power it will cost a bit more because you need a billet rod, and better flywheel before you can go further.

greg
May 13th, 2007, 04:28 PM
will that is great how long do these run on one tank of gas and 60 mph needs to be achievevable on pump gas and electric start is goo 1000$ for that is great i will be looking into this heavily

minidragbike
May 14th, 2007, 12:32 AM
Yeah pump gas, but pull start. Well the clone motors have a pretty large gas tank and can be ran for about 30 minutes at full speed with them. We race and stop, and race and stop. So it normally last about a extra 10 minutes longer this way.
