Does Anyone Know Anything About The 6.5hp Intek That Supposed Ly Has A 6.1 Gear Reduction? I Found A Really Good Deal On One But Dont Know If The Gear Reduction On It Will Be A Problem On Getting Top End Speed, It Should Have Plenty Of Low End Torque. Does It Have A Built In Gear Box?? Any Info Would Be Greatly Appreciated

I wouldn't miss with it. I had a GX160 5.5hp honda with a gear reduction. It takes to much power just spinning those extra gears. This will limit your RPM, and power band a ton. The added weight, and if you remove it you will need a new crank, and maybe other parts. You'll be wishing you would have just got the real thing in the first place.

To bad ICEMAN
You should keep looking I see 6.5hp briggs go for around $150 all the time. I even bought my little GX200 6.5hp Honda (not a cheapo) for $189. And the Hondas cost twice a much as the Briggs.

It's to bad that your not a builder. You can just build a 5hp flathead briggs to make 10hp. And you wouldn't even need a Torque converter.

This weekend I will go to my storage and see what I might have. I know that I have one complete motor(less carb). But I believe it's a bit to radical for your needs.

I was just on ebay and seen this: part no# 200017036484
He has two of them

Well the motor I have has a .150 stroker crank, and is .060 over. it still has stock valves, but it's fully ported. It also has a welded stock appearing head on it. It's setup to run a tillotson carb, but it doesn't have one on there. It only has the manifold. The cam is a dyno no#400 drag cam (.408 lift). The motor makes about 15hp on gas, and around 18hp on alky with more timming.

The motor doesn't look to radical, but it sounds very radical. It started off just to be a mild motor, but it's a little bit past mild.

If you just want advice, I can talk you through building your motor. Weather it be a flathead, or OHV. Just tell me what motor, and how much power you want to make. The real question is HOW FAST DO YOU WANT TO GO?

Its A Flatty And I Want As Much As I Can Get Out Of It, But Right Now I Dont Know If My Local Engine Machine Shop Is Set Up To Mill These Little Guys. But I Will Fond Out Sat, I Gotta Get Some Break Roters Turned And I'll Ask Then. But I Will Accept All Advice And Am Happy To Hear From Someone Who Knows What They Are Doing Rather Than The Mechanic Down The Street From Me That Thinks He Does But Not Really Lol.

If he has a machine shop for cars, he most likely won't have the correct tooling to machine these little motors. The machinest maybe able to do a few things, but it's best to deal with a pro that already knows.

If you planning on keeping the stock bore and stroke you can't really get more then 16hp and that's pushing it.
