I just recently decided to build a barstool racer after much looking I purchased an un-welded frame. I have just started looking a parts for it though anyone have an idea of how much its going to run me to get this thing finished. I'm not looking to do anything extreme I just want to have some fun. Any ideas????

Hello and Welcome!! The cost of building one all is determined where you get your parts and either going with new or used parts. If you want cheap then go with used parts. I would look on ebay under go-karts or barstool racer. Check out what they go for new before bidding on them. You can find a lot of the parts pretty cheap if you have patience. It will take longer to find them cheap. I would go with a new engine though! You can find a Honda clone on ebay under 200.00 6.5 HP. If you can build some of your own parts you could also save even more money! Used tires and wheels are almost always there on ebay pretty cheap. Take a look at the forums here and you will find a lot of help on what to get and what not to get! Hope this helps and Have fun with it!!!

I built my first Barstool 5 years ago for less than 100 bucks. The motor was from a 40 year old rototiller (free) the frame is made from 1 1/2" steel angle ( an old bed frame) The tires and wheels are cheapo ones from Harbor Freight. I did have to buy the axle, hubs and clutch. The point is you can do it cheap as you want if you scrouge for parts and are willing to spend a lot of time fabricating.
I am gathering parts to build a better "cruiser" this winter (including some nice tires and wheels)

Nice stool Frozen, thanks for the info guys.
I have another question I hope someone can answer for me. I have been doing some research on this site and in interested in building a keg gas can. I recently found an old all steel 1970's beer can on Ebay and its pretty nice but it is only 12 oz.(I thought it was bigger when I ordered it) I'm not framilular with how much fuel my stool is going to eat up. Do you think that this will be to small and just a waste to time to make into a tank? I'm planning on going with a 6.5 HP Honda Clone.

Hey Frozen Bohemian... I really like your BSR... I think it looks cool, can you post some more pictures with some different angles of it? Thanks!

If there is a karting track in your area you should go see if they sell their used parts. I've been running a n indoor track and I keep all the used parts that I can because sometimes I can sell them for a few dollars. As an example when a rim has a small bend in it it could be used for a BSR but on the track it doesn't hold air for 10 hrs of running.
