Hey Guys! What do you think about my progress so far?
My son and I have been having a blast building it. The front webbing was his idea. Thanks!

I think I am going to go with a 6.5 hp Honda clone engine.
What do you all think of the pitman arm configuration?
I setup the spindles with a 8 degrees of caster hope that works out OK.

sure seems like it is really low to the ground.

Hey Wrench,
Nice work on the web. The frame looks good also. Is that a custom pitman arm you built?

Mike,
Here is a closer look at the pitman arm I am working on. Once I get the design finalized I'll CAD the piece and send it to some buddies at the machine shop to punch me out a few. It definately is low to the ground. Do you think too low? If so I would need to make the changes before I finish weld the spindle and axle mounts.
Thanks! Wrench

Hello, Looks a little close! I would raise it a couple of inches! Do not want to go trench dinging in speed bump or bump in road! Pitman arm Looks good!!

Hey Guys!
My frame is about 2 1/2" off the ground to the bottom of the square tube.
I know that I could drop the front spindles to raise the front end, in the back though it seems a bit more of a pain. If I move the rear axle mounts down I would need to weld them at the side of the square tube. I could pick up another 1" of clearance but I am concerned about the bearing flanges fitting in the hangers, seems like the lowest bolt would not work that way. Any suggestions?

Low looks cool, but you will have to dismount at any speed bumps or curbs into driveways.

Hello, If you have 2 1/2" you should be ok on a flat surface. It just looked a lot lower than that in pics. Looked like about a inch or less! LOL:thumb:

Hey Wrench,
Don't worry about the 2-1/2" inch ground clearance. I just measured my Classic and it has 2-3/4" clearance. I have never had any problems hitting the bottom of the frame. Just watch for speed bumps and take your time.
The Classic runs in that range of ground clearance.

Guys,
Thanks again for the input. I was just worried I was missing something and was trying to figure out how I could get much more clearance than I had.
I will continue on and try to get the rest of this thing done.
Thanks! Wrench

what size tire and rim do you have on the front and rear
Wrench1
February 6th, 2007, 12:25 AM
I believe the rear has 6 inch rims at 8.25 inches wide with 6x8.10 tires.
The front is using 5 inch rims at 5 inches wide with 5x5.5 tires.
I will double check and post the exact sizes tomorrow. Thanks! Wrench
