Hey Fenters,

Welcome to the site! Glad you decided to register.

Your new ride sounds pretty cool and something we may have not seen here yet. Any plans on when your going to start building?

well thats just what i want, i was thinking today at work, i might just start off with one of your basic plans first so i can have something to play with sooner and then something like that before next summer. i have a 97 club car with no motor (gas), been tryin to get off of for the past couple weeks...

but i was wondering if you use 1"x1"x1/8" box how many feet to build entire frame???

you can build a frame with 20 feet

if you do more framing and put some nerf type bars and such, will be a litle more. i bought 40 feet and was able to build 2 frames, although i had to cut some of of the first one, it was not what i wanted anyways. i did make mistakes too so 20 feet should be good.

some people build really simple frames, some people brace them up more. just have to get an idea of what you want, then start, and you might change things here and there. i know that if i built another frame, i would change a few things again. but that is the fun of it all.

also, there are some pretty nice frames out there. i saw one for 150 shipped. consindering how much i spent on the steel to make the frames i did, would have been cheaper to buy that one. but it is all what you like. the square tubing to me looks more "homemade", you know what i mean. gives it that little something extra. i will make another one, i think most people done stop at just one. i might go that route. but considering i am only about 80 percent complete on my current one, i still have a little ways to go. if you have the tools to really get in there and try to be unique, it is really fun.

Hello, Mike has two plans available that would be good to start with check out his site? He also has most of the parts needed available and good prices. You can modify these plans to fit your style! If you would rather buy a frame he has that to! You can find plans on ebay and also frame kits. Do a little research on the forums here and you can find a bunch of ideas and a lot of help in your build. I also started with 20 feet and built my main frame with it. I added more to it and still did not use more than 30 feet. I used bigger square tubing for mine 1 1/2 X 1 1/2 X 1/8" just in case I decided to put a 4 cylinder motorcycle engine on it later! Later!!

Hey fenter2005, Welcome ...Cool to have new guy's and new idea's...Glad to see you are ready to start your racer...It will be great fun...I buy 3 -4 Honda Clone engines every month... I have used them on generators and air compressors...They work great ... On my racers they run better if you can leave the stock air breather in place...I have used aftermarket units and even built some myself but, the stock just works best! Hey, GOOD LUCK....Post pic's when you can.:cool_dude: :cool_dude: :cool_dude:

Hello, I use a 6.5 Honda clone engine and I can use a TAV2 torque Converter it fits right on with no mods. You can find them on ebay for around the same price as harbor fieght and some times cheaper! I got one with electric start for 145.00. So do a little shopping. All of the clone 6.5's are built the same and can use the TAV2. Post picks of the build! Have fun! I know you will!

well its been a busy couple weeks since i ordered the plans, my grandmother got very sick with her cancer and she passed on to a better place and last night i found some time to go over the plans. all i can say are they are very detailed in step by step illustrations. went this morning and bought the metal to start off with 20ft was 21bucks wasnt bad for new metal....

probably gonna start on it soon maybe this week. i want to start it right now as we speak but tonight gotta carry our little girl over to my wifes sisters house for all the cousins to go trick or treatin so i better wait.... i hate being interupted....

i'll try to post pix of progress.

Cool! We will be waiting on pics. Mine has not gone as fast as I would have liked to either! A lot of things slowed me down, a Heart attack didnt help either. LOL Waiting on parts is another thing that ticks me off! Good Luck!!
