Hello, I just went and bit the Bullet and have started building a CNC Plasma Cutter 4' X 8' I am building the cuting table first and have just bought the motors and controler. Has anyone built one here. If so could use a little more info on this. But I have the basics down on it! I will post pics of the table and controllers in the morning!:smash:

Let me know how you make out on this. I'd be interested in building one myself or acquiring the equipment.

I never built one moto but I bought one before I got a waterjet.
Mine was a KDS with a 2 axis controller and KDS servos. The plasma was a thermal. Pretty good unit actually and did nice work. I think our table was a bit larger but we were cutting 6x12 sheets. The biggest problem I had was getting the distance from your material set correctly. If there was a bump in the rack on the table your head might hit and take it out of plumb. Lemme know how the tables turns out

Look at this link: http://www.plasmacam.com/
I have seen these in use in the past, and it addresse the issue of the distance the torch is from the work piece that Voodoo mentions. The whole thing minus the plasma cutter runs under $9000.00. I Hpertherm Plasma machine rated to 1/2" is about $ 1500.00 at our local Airgas shop.
Hope yours turns out, I may have to send you some buisness. Where is Texas are you located?
