 HEY ALL
first off this site is great:me: about 4 years ago i built a radio flyer wagon (the full suspension one) and then sold it:bigcry: but i sold it to a buddy of mine and i get to see it every once in a while, any way i'm almost finished with my first bsr:blob_red: and was wondering what needs to be done to remove the govener from a honda clone? do i just remove the arm or do i have to go inside and take some other stuff out also? thanks in advance

Hello, All you have to do is remove the actuating arm off the trottle. No need to go inside engine and remove anything! I did pull the tank and take the arm of governor to have a cleaner look. I will post picks in a little while. Hope this helps!

Hey Guy's, I have a friend who is a Certified Honda Tech...We removed the Fast/Slow Lever and the long wire link from the Carb to the lever that goes to the block ( leave the spring between throttle on the Carb and the lever that goes to the block). I made a swivel to attach the throttle cable to and the other end of the swivel I cut the long link to go from the swivel to the carb...It all works great , I get full throttle responce, it idles fine, and starts very easy. I left the stock air breather and exhaust on my last Racer and that thing "FLIES". I will take some Pic's and post them ASAP. I hope this helps! Snakester:lush:

Hello, Snakestar you have about the same set up I made. I put a heavier spring on the throttle to pull it back and give it a little better control. If your hand comes off the throtle now it will go to idle fast like most motorcycles. post pics of yours and I will do the same shortly!:thumb:

You may want to pull your side cover and remove the arm that goes inside the crank case. Also there is a plastic gear with two stainless wings that operate the governor that need to be removed. All the gocart racers I talk to say these must come out or at 5000-6000 RPM's the wing will fly apart inside the crank case. I think safe is better than sorry. If your going to remove the governor remove it all, dont do a half a55 job.

Hello, I have run several of these engines without removing the governor gears inside the engine and have had no trouble. If I was going to race this in competion I would remove it though just to be safe. Some classes though do not allow the removal of the governor and check to see that it had not been adjusted to go over a rev Limit. Also if you went into Competion in open class you would want to run a different engine any way. Like a Briggs Animal with different cam, Crank and other hop up parts so it would not fly apart at high RPMS. If you are just going to run it fast every once in a while no need to remove insides though. I am removing mine on my dual wheel BSR because I will be running NOS. and it will probably fly apart anyway! LOL:wave:
