Hey all,
I was just wondering how many Minnesoootans are out there. I live in the southern part, in New Ulm. Lots of beer drinkin Germans. They have their own brewery here, and I'm pretty sure the locals alone could keep em in business. I don't drink what they brew here. I'm not tuff enuf. I moved here from Iowa about ten years ago. But don't hold that against me. I'm fitting in alright. I try to drink enuf so I don't stand out too much. And I think I started to talk funny, like saying boooat, ya, and dis and dat.

YA SURE Been here 12 years so the accent is gradually creeping into all aspects of my life. Up here in Eagan MN. (Near St Paul) it is not quite as thick as the southern regions of the state, but I tell ya when we head up to Alexandia MN for the weekends in the summer I get a good dose of "ya betcha".
I am gearing up for a long winter project, no not painting the interior of the house like the wife thinks, but another barstool project. (attached photo is the cheapo-barstool I built 5 years ago)
Well not exactly a barstool, I will be using a polished aluminum beer keg as a seat instead of a stool.
That means the motor is behind the seat, and it is a bit longer than a barstool kart.
There are a number of details to be worked out
1. Keg full of beer? ya sure Bohemian Beer to be sure.
2. co2 dispenser or hand pump... still thinking
3. how to keep cold?? its Minnesota, its always cold, problem solved.
4. how do the "open container" laws apply here? technically not opened?
5. how do I finish this without the wife finding out?
So as you can see its going to fill up the winter.
I got a good start on the frame last weekend. I will post some progress photos soon.

Hey Wayfat,
I grew up in MN and moved to FL in 1986. I live in cities like St. Paul, Chaska, Waconia, Shakopee, Chanhassan... Do any of those cities sound familiar?
My favorite place to live was Waconia because we live right on the lake a few houses up from the marina. In the winter time we would ride our snowmobiles down the back yard and onto the lake.
Welcome to the forum! :thumb:

yeah, about an hour south of me, when I am heading back home to Iowa, I see a sign for it, but never been there. Not sure how big it is or how far off my main path it is.

I'm familiar with all the cites you mentioned Mr. Bean. I live in Mound. Not far from Chan, Waconia, Chaska etc.
As I mentioned to Wayfat, I was down in New Ulm not to long ago and toured the Schells brewery that he was talking about.

hey all,
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a meet and greet sometime. probably next summer before i get around to throwing something together. we have a campground outside of New Ulm that can be rented for the weekend. i heard its $80-$100 (haven't checked for sure, or if the guy would want barstools tearing around all weekend). thought if we got enough interest, everyone could kick in a few bucks for the rental, camp overnight if you wanted to, and chip in for a cookout.
just wanted to see if there was interest before i gave it anymore thought.
Thanks,
Wayfat

Been reading through all the postings and this sport is sounding just way to much fun. Yup another one from Minnesota, Inver Grove to be exact. Mike Bean has done a great job at bringing so much talent together to discuss bar stool building. SO I am hooked and bought a stool last night at Menards to get started along with my # 2 son so off we go. I was wondering if there would be a Minnesota contingent involved in BSR. Thanks to all who post.

yep. there are a couple of us on here.
One of these days I will start mine. I have all the metal and 90% of the parts, except for the TAV, I just want to finish building my workbench first.
