SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. -– Racing fans who attended the inaugural O’Reilly Auto Parts Bar Stool Racing World Championship on Friday night will never be the same ... and neither will most of the competitors who took part in the wild-and-crazy one-of-a-kind extreme racing showcase on ice at the Sports Arena East in Sauk Rapids, Minn.

And while the entry list was ripe with numerous track champions, touring series titlists and other big names from the world of racing, it was an up-and-coming 18-year-old racer who found the quickest way around the ice-rink-turned-racetrack and pocketed the $10,000 top prize.

Currently in Ames, Iowa, and I myself, have a racer, and my buddy is working on collecting parts for his one part at a time, so far he has the frame and engine. We hope to if possible start up a little league come spring in Ames at the college parking lots, or atleast a little get together, where we can all screw off, we do it already with just mine about every other weekend.

Here is how to generate some interest locally! In your parking lot put out cones and get your friends there and have a timed event. Do this a few times and I guarantee you will get a crowd before long wanting to get involved in it!! Then you set up shop at your house and before long you will give up your day time job just to build and sell BSR's. Then your wife will get tired of all the people stopping in at all times and you will have to buy a building and from there you start your own business and then your wife is happy because now you can afford that new mink coat she has been wanting forever!!
