Furniture "World Speed Record"!!

Hello, I was searching to find out what the world speed Record was for a Barstool racer and the best I could come up with was from the Guiness Book of World Records " Fastest Furniture" a 1300cc motorcycle engine powered Sofa holds it at Only 87 MPH top speed. Guys we have a chance to become World Record Holders without much work!! I know I can design and build a Barstool Racer to whip the cushions off that Sofa! LOL.:laughing: Who wants in on this!! I am in the very start of a frame build to do this!! Give me some feed back on this!! I was thinking about everyone here that wanted to contribute in this, could help with parts, picking out the paint colors and design, naming it, etc... and share the victory of having the Baddest, Fastest, BSR in the World!! Give me some ideas on this! I am going to do this and would like my friends to share in the Winners circle!!:cheers: I can get this set up with Guiness World Records for this next year!!

I think the most difficult part is going to be to get some one to drive it!

Hell yeah....a 1300 engine, Suzuki Hayabusa will take you up to 220 MPH....

We would need to do it extra wide for stability...rack and pinnion or hydraulic steering is a must...

I would like to know how to participate...where are you located?

I think the safest way to do this is using some kind of car suspension....and some High speed tires....maybe a VW...you could get one really cheap... and they really hold up bad abuse (used in off road racing)...

Running live axle in the back?? I would choose 50 mm with 2 keyways at 180ª....Solid so it can hold...since the +200 HP of the bike engine won´t be easy to control...

Ok, I can see it now... People are not happy anymore with the 6.5HP engines running 40 - 45 mph. Now the extremest are going to surface and we will soon have people trying to get into the Guinness Book of Records for the Fastest Barstool on the Planet.

Let's all get together at the salt flats and see what can happen... :laughing:

I can still remember the day they televised the Budweiser Car that was jet powered and broke the speed of sound (something like 800+ mph) on land. Now we will be watching jet powered BSR's on the flats going at it.

Anyone got a jet engine for sale? I have an idea I would like to try out...:smash:

Hey Moto,

I think the BSR should be a two seater. One seat for the Pilot and one for co-pilot/navigator/weapons.

I have a frame design that I believe will work great for this. It is designed around a Junior dragster, using 1" and 1 1/2" Square tubing for frame,using rack and pinion steering, 18 X 8" tires on rear, 120/70/10" on front, 1 1/4" chromoly axle on rear, As far as engine size I am not sure yet about which to use. Was thinking about a 600cc engine. Would be plenty fast and about 100 hp. looking at the wieght and size to go on the frame.
I guess you could say any one of us is an extremist, To ride a barstool 40 MPH is considered extreme to most people! Any one doing anything outside the norm is considered an extremist!! I like to cruise around and have fun at normal speeds put every once in a while I like to step on the pedal and GOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I have always been competative in what I do. I guess once you get that in your blood you cant get rid of it! This aint for everyone!!
Some cant handle Losing!! Which you will do if you are a true racer!! You will always have someone breaking your record!! But to just have it for just a little fraction of time is priceless!! Yes there will be some one that will take the record at a higher speed and thats great!! But if no one ever tried to improve on something where would we be today?? A lot Slower! LOL!! If people never went to extremes we would still be without fire, no lights , no welders, no plasma cutters, no cars, no houses, NO NOTHING!! So I will be an extremist!! Then again if you aint an extremist your probably not improving much of anything and might as well not change anything in your life to make it better!!! Just sit back into the norm and slowly fade away!! LIFE IS A JOURNEY!! GO TO THE EXTREME!!

I DID SEE A JET STOOL I THINK IT HAD LIKE A J-45, OR J-85 ON IT.
IT WAS BILLED AS THE FASTEST BAR STOOL IN THE WORLD. THE NEXT CLICK WAS A SPORSTER MOTOR AND IT RAN 10 M.P.H. FASTER.
ANY WAY, I AGREE W/ THE STOOL DIMENTIONS IT WOLUD BE AN E-TICKET TO DRIVE. MAYBE YOU CAN GET A SIGN MADE UP AND PUT THE NAMES/BUSINESS'S NAMES ON IT WHOM SUPPORTED THE PROJECT.

I THINK THE MEASUREMENTS WILL HAVE TO BE VERIFIED TO BE PART OF THE RECORD.

Sorry mike the extra wieght might slow me down to much and besides you would not have time to enjoy the ride!!I think a two seater would be ok for the camera crew for this but then again all they would see is my backside and dust!! LOL:rofl: The salt flats would be a great place to do this. I can see the Headlines now!! New Land speed Record set buy a bunch of barstool extremists!! BSR BREAKS SOUND BARRIER AT SALT FLATS!!
