Looks Great! I like the elongated front end. It looks like ya got all the right tools, a big hammer :hammer: a saw and that lonely Keg in the backround!:lush: But what's the measuring tape for? I hope you keep track of the Keg Level with it.

Man! You should be Banned from the Forums for sure! Spilling a Good Beer is Grounds for that!! LOL:rofl: Looking good on that front end. Are your A arms level with the frame? I understand the paint to! Better to have paint on Steel than Rust!! Some times designing some parts takes time and if weather is not right rust can setup overnight! Keep up the good work! DO NOT SPILL NO MORE!!! LOL:laughing:

The spindles on the front are 3/4" higher than the rear axle. I thought that the front was suppose to sit lower than the rear?

There is 9* camber built into the front to make it return to center.

I'm thinking 24" turff tires...:D

moto1fast
November 26th, 2006, 01:54 AM
You are right the front should sit a little lower to help it from comming up evertime you gas on it!! I just could not tell in pictures if it was!The tire size will surely raise it up enough! Cant wait to see the tires mounted on it and standing on its own!! Keep up the good work and keep us posted!!:thumb:

Those max out at 2" of travel. They are mostly for looks. I'll see how it rides and may weld them in place to keep them from traveling if it too much. I just love the look of them.....

I think the handle bars look great. I think what throws it off is where they are mounted! Can you make them mount about half way in the grill. In other words lower them down so it does not look like it is just sitting on top of the shaft. Keep the angle of them the same! I can picture them down farther and then I beleive they would look great on there! Hey was that wet towel used to wipe up another spilled Beer???? LOL

not sure I'm following you. Do you mean to mount the shaft to the handlebars in the middle of the handlebars? If I lower them much I will need to lower the seat too.

moto1fast

Yes, mount them lower about 2 or 2 1/2". Should still be high enough to clear your legs unless you are pretty tall!

May be it is my eyes, but the pictures i see does not allow any travel in the front end.
It looks like you got the shocks mounted to all square stock that won't move?
Is it my old eyes or am i missing something?
IF THERE IS TRAVEL DID YOU ALLOW FOR A LIMITING STRAP ECT...:blob_red:

It seems that pic #1 shows that the square tube to which the shock is mounted is an "A arm" that (damn black paint) looks like it has some pivots.

Hopefully it has if not...that´s just for looks :P

I used the bushings and ends from an old set of shocks. They are mounted under the frame.

I won't need limiting straps, the coil-overs don't seperate...

I think I'm going to go with a simple T-handel or some dirt bike handlebars.

At this point I think I need some tires and a motor before I go much further.

Aaron871
November 28th, 2006, 09:42 PM
OK
I feel better now that I cut those handlebars off...
I'm thinking of either using the top of a keg as a steering wheel or mounting the keg horizontal over the engine and riding it like a horse...
Oh, I realized that 24" tires would be sewer-side so I'm thinking about 16" snow blower tires.

What are you going to use for the drive system? The Comet 40 setup with a Midshaft? That dude could become one mean rock climbing BSR with just a little more work!! Keep us posted!! That exhaust is gonna be a problem... I'll have to make a custom header...

They make a tav2 for a 1" shaft. I was going to try it.

Will this engine work? Or will it just flip the thing over when I hit the gas? I've never driven a tav2, how slow is the transfer of power?

Yep Z bars will look great with your front Grill!! The tav2 is pretty smooth but if you put the pedal to the metal at take off you will have front end lift for sure. Wheelie bars will be a must with that engine!! You better check clearance with the barstool legs. I do not believe it will fit under the stool without some mods!

Hey bro, your build is going on very nicely...nice engine =)

Now... I donīt know but how are you planning to run your tie rods?

If you have them like now youīll have an inverse steering like mine ;)
Thatīs pretty creative but...I donīt know if thatīs the best...

to correct it using the spindles as you have them youīll have to run the pitman arm in front of the steering axle... Just as I did....hereīs a pic to watch....

Notice you just need to run the pitman arm as I did...you should not change the spindles or steering tie rods

LOL::laughing: He ended up in the hospital the next morning, bike was trashed, had about 5 tickets to pay and was going to jail after he healed up!! I drilled a 1/16" hole in the filler neck for a vent, I wasn't going to all the trouble of a check valve and return line on this thing.

I have been building these tanks for a while now and I found that silver soider works the best . Silver soider is a bit pricey at 18.00 a tri-OZ. with 45% silver content thats about 88 inches of it.. But It's just like sweating copper pipes together. It does take some practice to get it down pat. I went through 36 bucks worth of silver soider before I got it. and my first tank looked like Shazit:cheers:

I plug the end of the keg with a slug from our laser drops. The neck and cap I stock but at this time I am sold out of the parts. after the 1st of the year I will be stocking up again.
Using silver soider is a bit tickey takes some proctice. I wish I still had the first tank I build just to show ya the nice holes I burnt through it with the tourch. Instead of saving it we filled it with gun powder and dried cracked corn and shot it with a 7.62x39mm tracer round and what a nice light show it made.:hot:

I am also looking to change the tank a bit. What do ya thing of having the tank sit upright and have a cap on top the tank were the tap vent is????

How do you get that finish on the keg?

Nitefall
December 4th, 2006, 03:34 PM
If you rapp the can w/ a wet towel as close as you can to your weld that will help.
When you clean it up, you will be verry happy.
Go to your near-by m/c shop and pick up a kit of "creamit". mix it up and pour it in the tank. open another beer and swerl it around and by the time you finish a couple of beers the tank will be fully lined and any "soft" areas will be reinforced.

update....
Changed out the 1/2" drill rod in the steering column to 5/8"
Beefed up the steering column a little
Swapped out to some better heim joints (still need to beef up the drag links)
Painted the handelbars
Installed the brake and throttle levers and cables
I bought a brake kit, but am waiting for the convertor to come in before I install it so that I only have to remove the axle once.....

Hello, I think I figured out your problem with it not reving up. Is that Muffler Gutted out to flow easy? If not that muffler is too big and has too much back pressure for that small engine!! It will not let the motor run over a certain speed because it does not allow the exhaust to flow out fast enough!:smash: You can either gut it out or put a smaller more open one on it! I would use a striaght pipe about 18 to 20 inchs long! Hope that helps!

That muffler is straight thru... (BTW thanks for all your help the other day:cheers: )

On a hunch from a friend, I restricted the flow into the intake with some tape. Now it runs full out. I can almost get a wheelie and it goes easily 40 mph (faster that I care to be on it).

Thanks to all that helped me in this build..... nice forum. I plan on sticking around for a while.

Needs air filter on it to also restrict air some so you get right ratio of air/Fuel mix! Did not notice that until I looked at your pics better! Looks like the stool leg was in the way for the original to fit on. Look at the pics on my dual wheel and see if you can make something like it! Here is a pic of it!

Nice, did you make the filter? If not, where did you get it?

Thats a Secret!! LOL It is a Valve cover breather from a v-8 auto. The thing about this one it unscrews and you can clean it out. It has a foam filter inside it. Here is some pics taken apart! I looked and bought it on ebay under Auto valve covers. I just lucked out on the part of it coming apart to clean! LOL:laughing: They work out great for this mod! I used a intake off a old Honda ATC 110 three wheeler and it bolted up and turned up and just grinded it down to press the breather on to it!

Needs a wheelie bar, new seat, and new muffler.

I flipped it yesterday.... front over back.... I'm all good, just a little road rash and a swollen jaw.:eek2:

Glad to here your ok! What happened! To much power to Quick? Did you have a wheelie bar on it when it happened? I guess your not worried about lack of power or not being able to pull a wheelie now! lol:laughing: Did you get a air filter on it? How about a video of the accident? If not can you make us one please! LOL:rofl: Sorry to here about your accident and tearing it up! I am sure it will happen to most of us if we ride it enough and get real brave and lose repect for the thing. The engines produce more power than people think! It may only be 6.5 Hp but it is 200cc in a lite wieght frame! Got to Love it!!
