Hey mbean.

Oh yes I'm going to put a candy apple red old style paint on it. 1st silver and then metal flake transparent red. Then I'm going to put a web theme on it. All custom by me. And i still have to do the wheelie bar. And put the new bar stool on it. I got a custom tag that reads LAST CALL for the back. And yes on the electric start . I have already got people asking me to display it when I'm done in fount of there store. And now I'm sure I will have to build one for my boss. Not bad for my first welding job. Thanks .

Hey there motorman. I have a question. How did you hook up your throttle on your motor. I would love to see a pic of what you have done. This is how i did it.

cant really tell from the pic how you did it, but i did similar, as long as you have a good reset spring and free spining pivot, that will be great

I used a old barstool to mock it upwith. Then when it came time to get the new barstool , I could not find one that would fit. If it did fit the motor didn't.
So i had to make one. I'm still looking for one but this will have to work till I find one.

Yep it does a wheel stand. That was the first time it tossed me off the back.
I still have the scars. I'm a big guy and others see me riding it and then when they get on , It scares them. They don't think of the weight change. The guy next door raced his son on his little crotch rocket tonight down our street. I put those wheel lights on it so it glows at night. Kinda cool.
I plan on putting a bat box on it so I can use the electric start ,but I'm just having to much fun right now. Like I said no one around here have seen a BSR.
So it has made me the cool guy in our area. I plan on riding it in the toys for tots run this year.

I would like to say thanks to mike and all of the great guys here that have helped me make this. I'm a graphic artist that picked up a welder for the first time last year. And I have never had a go kart or anything like one before. Before this forum I didn't even know what a spindle or tie rod was. I started late in life but hey better late than never.
Thank you.

I also moved the back wheels in a little. I think they were a little to wide to make a turn. It is already had to turn this thing.

LOOKING GOOD!! Its nice to get things for free especially when they go great with what you have! Nice! What did it come off of? Did you have to modify it to fit? I have the same engine! Looked around for a muffler and found one but will have to build a mounting flange on it to fit! I am building a air filter manifold so I can use a K&N air filter on it! Keep up the good work! :hot:

it came off a gas scooter. The only thing i had to do is use the Mounting flange off the muffler on my BSR motor. The one on the scooter didn't have a flange. It just slid into the engine. Kinda strange. So i just cut the flange off the muffler on my BSR and weld it to the new one. I did have to grind it to a angel to clear my barstool leg and to line up with the engine. The bracket is a pice of tubing i cut and mounted to the motor and muffler. had it done it around 30 mins. Easy fun and free. Hey i would love to see your plans on the filter manifold. I seen one on e bay for 60.00 but I get to much of a kick telling others "no i didn't buy it. I made it " Hey love the Duall wheel bsr.
Keep posting.

I'm going to build my frame soon and thinking about a 2 seater and I like the wider more stable look 10" wide wheels for sure, longer wheel base will keep the wheelies down.

Thanks Rich D

My axle is 31" long. I like the wide wheels. But I found out that the wider the wheels and the farther they are from the frame. The harder it is to turn. I moved mine in to match the front wheels now. I can turn better but I still have to gas it to spin the rear wheels around. But that is just fun to do.

I just spent all day today rebuilding the steering and gas and break throttle . My wife's sisters best friends son thought because he could ride a 4 wheeler and drive a sand buggy he could drive my BSR. But i said NO! So when I was gone he took it down the street and ran it into a light pole. He is ok but the BSR needed a a lot of help. I got everything done but need to buy some new tie rods.
I should have taken some pic's but I was too mad. it was like the ER at a hospital. I got it in the garage and started cutting and welding in less than 15 min. I should have pics of all the changes sometime this week.

Sorry to hear that Warpaint. If I were you I would add a key switch on the engine shroud so he can not start or hot wire it next time.

Atleast you're getting it back together! Grab some brews  and fire up the welder and get it running again.

I have often thought about a key switch on mine for when I am at the race rack and I use a restroom. I fear it might be gone when I get out...

Anyways good luck on the repair and did you ask him why he was not able to avoid a light pole? I mean come on, I would have expected something larger..

Here it is. I remade the steering handles for the fuel and brake. Put the key up on the side of the stool. Had to make some foot rest out of .5 diamond plate to hide the weld's from the repair, But I think it looks ok. Put the new muffler and air filter on. Next will be the wing and battery.

Man ! we got some snow here this week. Some of the kids on my block were pulling each other on somekind of mats made to slide on snow. Yes i took my BSR out on the snow. Was hard to get it going at first with the slicks but when I did. Man! This thing is so much fun on ice and snow. I took some of my sons track tape he has for his skate boards and put it on the tires. before long we had a snow party going on. One guy got out his grill and was cooking burgers and hot dogs. Plus we used it to warm up. It was a blast. Hope it snows again soon.

Your stool is great. Any chance on getting more info on that pipe. That is the best looking exaust I have seen yet. This is just a guess but it's quiet enough not to pi$$ off the old lady next door. One more question but does it get up and go fast enough for you with the centrifuge clutch. At 260lbs I'm not sure my clutch choice was the right one. But as soon as my fellow e-bayer gets my tires to me I guess I will find out.

RUBICON
January 31st, 2006, 09:23 PM
well....I have missed this thread for a while...but couldn't pass without saying how great Warpaints stool worked out.....the creative use of parts is cool...I do that to....I hear your coments on the reluctance to steer...but the major wide front tires are way cool to look at....I looked at flame thrower for mine...since I have a fuel pump for the wet nitrous I thought I could valve it to the Muzzy headpipe and with a dry jet spray it when the ignitor is on...I built one in 1965 for a 55 Ford....cruiser skirts..checker back spinners...lake pipes....used a model T coil ( wood box with a vibrator armature that made a constant spark ) and a spark plug in the lake pipes.....rev it good...pull the choke...hit the switch....stand back.....flames 6 ft long..sideways out the sidepipes...cool stuff before neon and bling....
PS: try a small ( not too small ) motorcycle battery for the BSR...fits nice in the rear...will your mag charge it?...some do

WarPaint

Thank you Rubicon, I think your BSR is by far one of the best here. I hope you are passing on your talent. It would be a shame to let it fade away. I love working with my hands and this is a new found love for me. I find myself thinking of what I could build next instead of my work. I found this late in life but I found it. I was told that my dad was great at building stuff but he died before it was passed to me. Most kids today can't tell you the name of the tool's we use everyday. My stepsons and my wife feel why build it if you can buy it. My 9 year old girl and me don't feel that way. She spends most of her time in the garage with me. Anyway yep I will look into a battery for it soon.
And I'm told my mag will charge it. Then I got some LED to put on it.
I don't think this will ever end.

not nice, WAY NICE!, I have been racking my mind trying to come up with a neet way to hide the ugly of the rear axle and you nailed it.
Very nice
If the L brackets are bugging you, now that you have it fab ed, and fitted, just take it to a local weld shop, they could tig it, then you could just buff up the welds.
I bet if you show some pics of what it is for, they would love to do it and prob for a deal just cause these things are cool.
In my research and work on mine I always mention it, and half the time shops just give me the small stuff just to see me get it done. I've gotten fittings, hardware, handlebars etc... You know, junk in someone elses way but ness for the build.
Anyway, very nice job on yours

I got the muffler off a scooter that my boss gave me. It fell off his truck on the way to a race. Not much left of it but he knows I like to cut stuff up.
The elbow is off the handlebars of a bike I had. And the bar for the support is the tube that is between the handlebars with the foam pad on it. I just cut and welded it all up to fit.
See pic
Thanks.

Going to go with a skull them. I found a skull head light for the front. Oh and the guy riding is the guy next door. He got my old frame and should have it done soon.

Hey great!
Glad to see another BSR fan close by. I'm excited to see what you will come up with. I have seen small engines to full blown Harleys. It is all in what kind of money you want to spend. the one you seen yesterday is my new one. I just got it on the road this weekend. it runs great and likes to wheelie, that is why i had to put the wheelie bar on it. I'm not a racer but i do like the looks i get when i speed by. But hey keep in touch and stop by when you can. I'm no pro at this but there are alot of guys here that are. And will be more than happy to help. All we ask is post photos of your build and video if you can. Everyone likes to see what kind of creativity others have.

Are they alluminum or steel ? YOu can find steel weld in bungs w/cap for motorcycles tanks on ebay all day. You can also use a pipe weld-in nut which are like $0.20 each. That you can use for a petcock or just a straight gas line. I've got a hand full of 1/4" ones if you can't find any.

freak
August 14th, 2006, 10:34 PM
oops guess i kind of missed your Q. sorry. once you get a bung (filler neck) you use a whole saw drill bit the size of the bung . Then cover the inside of the bung so no splatter get in it. Then tack it first, once it's where you want it weld it in place.

Hey War:thumb: Cool looking Kegs! You will have to Tig Weld a filler cap and pep cock for the fuel line. Check J P cycles or look for Custom Bike tank Build suppliers. They should have what your looking for. I think you have to have gas tanks pressure tested ? not sure about that though

August 14th, 2006, 11:14 PM
ONe more thing i just thought of. NOt sure how big those are. There's a place called twistedshoppers. Their bungs are smaller then most on bikes, just big enough to put the end of the gas pump in. Their's are steel and you can pick from 3 diff types of cap.

http://www.twistedchoppers.com/pics/product/Caps.jpg

http://www.twistedchoppers.com/index2.html

Also they are vented, which is another thing you'll want. They're pricey but great quility $65. It's just the only place i know that you can get a small one. To bad it's not aluminum, i know where to get it those $30. lol aint that the way it goes.

I think i may of found the perfect cap.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Small-Billet-Gas-Cap-for-custom-bikes_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35563QQihZ011QQitemZ320015977322

I've used 2 of their other caps on bike tanks and the quility is outstanding. These seem like the perfect price and the prefect size cap. Small, vented and way under $60.

If you find anything different or better let me know cause i wanna make one of those tanks. I'm gonna try to get one of those kegs off ebay and get one of these caps !!

For the record, just my .02 cents. Yes tig would be great but not everone has one. I've built 2 tanks for mini choppers and i used a mig on one and a linclon weld pak 100 w/fluxcore wire on the other. Weld, grind, test. Then weld where needed and grind and test again. I just filled the bathtub up with water and submerge the tank to find the airholes. But these are much smaller and you're only welding the bungs. So it should not take as long and you can prob do it in a sink or 5 gallon bucket of water.

WarPaint
August 15th, 2006, 09:24 PM
hey great cap and bung. I may have to get it. Yep all i have is a flux core welder. But i would love to have a tig. And may soon. I was also told about this fuel cell coating that you pour it into the tank and slosh it around . it will coat and seal the inside of the tank. this is all cool stuff and i can't wait to get started.

freak
August 15th, 2006, 09:40 PM
POR-15 is the sealer i've used and it came highly recommened from a few tank builders. When i used the fluxcore i sprayed anti-splatter all over it first. It did help.

Hey freak
How is it going. No i had to stop work on my tank for a little time to print a few t shirt orders. But i did talk with a guy here in town that told me to braze the bung on to the tank. He showed me a little on how to do it. And where to get the stuff to do it. So maybe in a week or two i can get back on my tank and BSR. It is all tore down for paint right now. But i should have it back together in about a month.

Oh im going to put my cap in the side. I just like the look of it. Old school you know. I don't plan on keeping the label on it, so it will look great on it's side. I'm still working on a cool way of mounting it to my BSR. I want to do somthing wild .
