I was ask today if I could build a 4 person BSR (4 in a line) for this years Labor Day Parade. I let my neighbor (The Sheriff) ride one of my Racers last year. It got a lot of attention and I did sell a couple after that. I think this could be a pretty coooool build. Our town just purchased a Million$ Hook & Ladder Fire Truck , I was thinking of a Fire Truck Theme. I guess I could start w/2-6" I beams @ 12' Long...I was thinking of 6 wheels. 2@ front for steering , 2@rear for steering and 2 in the center for power. I am open for any help in design to build a safe and easy Racer to ride.......Snakester:dizzy:

How does this sound? If you are building a hook and ladder theme stool why not build your frame out of 1 1/2" Square tubing and make braces that makes your frame look like a Ladder! It would be stout enough for a 12 foot length that way. I would put the engine in the rear and use commercial swivel casters in the middle of your frame and put front steering only in it. Diff in rear! What do you guys think? Sounds like a cool build!

Before we get too far into this, let me ask a couple of questions....
Will there be any ladies riding on this BSR that might be wearing a dress or skirt?
How often do they plan to use the BSR? Once a year at a parade or more regularly?
Surely you still plan to use barstools but you might have to consider a "hand hold" for the passengers to hang onto for their stability.
Do you want the BSR frame to be solid front to back or consider some type of swivel in the middle somewhere so it's more like a BSR and trailer?
Just thinking......

Hey Critter, I was thinking of building a BSR w/ Trailer and after visiting the local Fire Dept today now I think what I am going with is a BSR w/@ a 60" wheel base and a trailer w/a 60" wheel base and a trailer to pull behind it for the Fire dept Dog to ride in. I have 4 Stools that came out of an old drug Store ...Pedistle type and I think I will build it @24" wide w/Black and white tile floor. I don't know if any women are going to ride , but I will put handle bars behind each for the passengers to hold on to. I have a 11 H.P electric start I won from ebay , its black and I think I will powder coat the Frame Red! I got 2 pcs. of 2" WIDE AND 31/2" TALL I beam that should be plenty strong and should look like a ladder.

just make sure you get a nice rear sprocket cause you´ll be needing it to haul 4 guys ;)...
Yeah, square tubing sounds great...
if you´re having ladies with skirts on it...make the stools taller! wups!
Diff is a must as moto said...!
so are pics!

Ok just a though. Have this a two person steer, just like the big ladder trucks are!

Hey Stool, That is what I was talking about in thread #1 , I thought that would be really cool and not to hard to do! I have been working on some design work this morning...I am even thinking that I may just build a 3 or 4 person trailer and pull it with The John Deere Racer or another Racer. I do want to have a place for the Fire Dept's Dalmation to ride! I really like the 2 person Steer idea! I am just going to plan for awhile. :dizzy:

Thinking out loud.....
As I continue to think on this I believe the easiest way to do it is similiar to the photo attached. However, there could be some balance and load issues involved.
The "tractor" portion would be a basic BSR. In case someone who is not familiar with a BSR was driving, you'd probably want to have the driver sitting just in front of the motor to act as a counter balance for the load to help prevent wheelies. Be sure to aim the exhaust down and to the side so it doesn't hit any passengers and would probably want to keep it fairly quiet for this build.
The "trailer" should probably be a 2-axle 4-wheel trailer to handle the load of 3 people. In so doing, you could set the front axle up to swivel like most 2-axle trailers do so the whole rig would be able to turn sharper with less stress and load on the motor and also help prevent wheelies with the BSR. This design would also releive the passengers from having to worry about driving the rig so they can wave and such to the crouwd.
If it is desirable to have an extra trailer for the fire department dog, you could make this one as a single axle trailer due to the much lighter load.
One thing I would suggest with both trailers is that they have the same hitch assemble so either trailer or both could be pulled behind the BSR.
