Just got a intek 6.5 for a starter motor in my bsr. I am a little confused on how i will rig up the throttle linkage? Any other tips for this, like Tav, and rear sprocket gear. Should i remove the govornor?

I just set my Intek throttle up in prep for my first BSR build! First, I loosened the center thru bolt beneath the gas tank just enough to easily move the throttle lever and purchased a two-pack of throttle return springs from Advance Auto Parts. I built a small bracket about 1" long from 18 gauge sheet metal and bolted it down with one of the muffler heat shield bolts. I had to stretch the spring a bit to get the "feel" I was looking for, and adjust the bracket so there was no interferrence with the other springs on the engine, but now the throttle returns back to idle very nicely. Although I haven't done it yet, I'll drill out a bolt to fit the diameter of the throttle cable and bolt it thru the existing hole in the engines throttle lever. Very simple, effective and inexpensive. I've purchased all the bit pice parts including the TAV-2 so I could see what the fitment issues will be. Last night, I bolted the TAV-2 up and determined that I will need about 18" between the barstool legs for the necessary clearance and keep the tank and stock muffler in place. I've removed the lower ring from the barstool and "stretched" the leg width for clearance, but will fab another one after the BSR is up and running to regain support for the stool. A far as removing the governor, I chose not too because I feel the additional RPM/ speed gain would not be worth the reliability tradeoff. Keep in mind, all this has been done BEFORE making one cut in any metal... "measure twice; cut once" HTH!!

There is a kit available with all the neccesary linkage, cable, cable housing, and fittings for about 25.00 from dynocams or comet kart sales. just look for the animal linkage and this will set you up.
